Department of Zoology was established in 1954 with PUC. Zoology was offered as an Optional subject for B.Sc and Intermediate English and Telugu Medium in the year 1970.

• M.Z.C (Microbiology, Zoology , Chemistry)

Acitivities for the academic year

The Department conducts

• Quiz programmes for students on prescribed chapters / Topics to improve their knowledge.
• Zoological tours /Field trips to develop the practical knowledge of the students.
• Writing tests, Home Assignments and Preparation of Models and charts for better understanding of the subject.
• Any other Programme as per necessity.

The Department of Zoology has introduced ‘Insect-Pests’ which is useful for agriculture and field research in 2009-10. In the second year degree course the topic ‘Wild-life’ has been introduced in 2010-11 to bring about an awareness for the protection and conservation of wild life. In the third year degree the topic Vaccination has been introduced in 2011-12 to impart knowledge about the prevention of diseases. Two Certificate Courses in “Pro-biotics”and “Ornamental Fishes and Aquarium Management” have been introduced in 2011-12
